Tech but no support

Here I am just finishing a call from tech support. A proprietary software that we are running on the PC is acting up and generating a host of errors. After putting me on hold for 10 minutes the person on the other end returned and told me that they have called up 2nd level support expedite the call and they will be calling me back. Okay, I was on the phone for 10 minutes with someone that cannot help me. What kind of support is that? In this day and age of email, voicemail, 2 way pagers, cellphones, and text messaging, how come we cannot get in contact with the right people?

Happy Halloween

Once again the day of goofs and goblins are upon us. I like this day because I have an excuse to go gather junk from the neighbors just for acting silly and deranged. This halloween however like last year, I am working and I get to be the person making the jesture of giving the junk away! I guess things arent what they used to be. The Yankees didnt win the ALCS and The Red Sox won the penant. Its not so much that I am a sore loser but the Yankees had a winning season and a great bunch of guys that can hit. I guess we will have to do better next year. Congratulations Red Sox nation!

A Change of Heart

Looks like my old manager has a sudden change of heart. Tonight I had a chance to talk to him and he has given me the go ahead to apply for the management position. He's gonna back me up 100%. I dont know who or what made him change his mind but at least I was given a chance to prove myself rather than getting pushed aside. Its the weekend, and eventhough its not Friday, Off with your Pants!

Too Much Time On My Hands

as the song goes by the Styx. But in my case I just dont seem to have enough time complete my tasks. Meeting here, meeting there. Training here, training there. Delegate to him, etc. etc. etc. I need to get my act together if I want to be the manager of the team. Speaking to the management position, I spoke to my old boss and according to him, he wants me to help him go over the selection process of hiring another manager! I immediately, spoke to my inner self, "You ingrateful bastard! I am a perfectly good candidate for that position and you wont even give me a chance to prove myself that I can be that manager? It pissed me off a great deal! But, you know what? Okay, I will let them play their game. After my wedding next year, I shall be looking for a new job elsewhere! Right now, I need this job so that I can pay for my wedding.

Passing of the torch

Alas, my manager will be resigning this week and for the next few weeks I shall be the one in charge until TPTB decide upon his replacement. Its easy and its not easy. Its like a ton of food is being put in my place with not much time for me to swallow it all. I am more concerned about all the back office work that I will be left to do. Not to many folks in the team know all that stuff and I am still undecided on who to deligate it to.

It s really hard to talk about all this on this blog since there are readers out there that have followed me here to my new home in hopes that I blurt out the company that I work for.

From now on I will have to keep work affair generic so as not to stir the pot if you will.

More to it. I should blog about other stuff than work. It will be more progressive that way.

Who's your 'Papi' Now?

An old time friend of mine has blogged about her passions for the ALCS series. I was completely devastated when the Yankees lost the series. I mean they were doing so well in the first three games, why would I even think of the posibility of them losing to a team that has never won the WS Penant since 1918? I would like first of all to congratulate the Boston Red Sox for their wonderful comeback. Its a record that has never been surpassed in a while for what I have heard. Secondly, I would like to wish the fans good luck for their trip to the World Series and the Bo'Sox a great win if they can endure it. Yankees? We're gonna do better next season.

A review on Podcasting

To quote endgadget.com "A Podcast is an audio file, a MP3, most likely, in talk show format, along with a way to subscribe to the show and have it automatically delivered to your iPod when you plug in to iTunes. The show isn’t live, so you can listen to it whenever you want." Chris' girl however has a different take on this activity. Look here>>>

I know a secret

I've been given hints of this for about a month now but I wasnt sure how true it was until last Friday. Word around the water cooler is that my manager is leaving for good. I found a bonafide fact that he is quitting for real on Friday the 29th! It was written in an email I found in my old bosses account of which I still have access to it.

Now that I know the secret, should I share it or should I keep it to myself? I want to the team to move forward before my boss' last day. I most certainly dont want him to jeopardize all the improvements we both have made with the team. Right now I think he is demoralizing them just to get them all ticked off and not concentrate in working as a team. So without letting the cat out of the bag, I decided to memo the three key people in the team and told them that things will be improving after the 29th. I didnt say how it was going to improve but I do hope that they get the message.

Today, I shall be off on MY weekend. Yes, my weekend falls on a Tuesday and Wednesday! Unfortunately, thats what I had to endure with this manager. I hope to rectify that when I take over and I only have to work Monday to Friday! Yey! Me!

Highlights of my week

Its been an ongoing thing between Dot and I to get things in order before our wedding. Its almost a month since our engagement. I have finally come around mailing out the DVD's to the people that came to our engagement party. Okay, so I take my time when doing things such as this. Well, I wont bore you with too much details about the things I have to go through to get this task completed.

I also had a long meeting with the new district manager. And as usual, I already pretty much know what his agenda is for all of us in management. As far as I am concerned, I would like to move up in the world and its people like him that are keeping me from a promotion. I have proven myself time and time again. Why cant they see that and put me in the final path of being the boss of my own center?

I have found out that what I have accomplished with the team I have been working with was only cosmetic. Now I am faced witht the guelling project of moving stones out of the path so to speak. Forget about the hurdles.. I am talking about boulders that are blocking the road! More on this later...

Thank you and goodnight

Evan is leaving Blogger. He has dont great things in the last five years to bring his blogging project to fruition and have Google see an interest to buy into it. Great job Evan. Hope to meet you someday. Maybe if you come to the next Gnomedex Convention. Best of luck.

heres the exerpt from the opening page of blogger....

"Thank you and goodnight!

For all you old-timers out there: Thank you for your incredible support and energy over the years.

This is my last post on Blogger News, after over five years. I'm moving on to new things and leaving Blogger in the hands of an incredible team here at Google.

I would have never dreamed the blogging phenomenon and Blogger would reach the height it has. I mean, "blogs" was a category on Jeopardy the other night! Can you believe it? But now, I think I can safely say there's much more to come. These guys have so many cool things in the works, I can't wait to be a Blogger user in the next few months.

If you want to know what I'm up to, I'll still be blogging, of course, at evhead.com.

Peace and new ideas."

Work before my weekend

I am so proud to say that I have had a great streak at my new office station. The team finally moved from zero to hero! We are ranked number one in our district. I would like to gloat but can't due to privacy issues.
I put in some overtime at my old digs today. The old boss wanted me to prepare his store for the holiday displays. I must say I did a great job. Its been over three weeks since I left and before I put things together, the place looked like a hurricane hit it. Everything is set up nice and tidy and supplies put away and out of view from customers.
So it starts now, my weekend. Its only temporary until I can find the right apprentices to fill the voids in my new office. Wish me luck.

New Pillow

MSNBC is reporting about a new pillow made by a japanese firm Kameo Corp. What's next? A pillow for a guy so that he can spoon?

Certificates

Dad just emailed to let me know that he has send over my baptism and first communion certificates. I wont bore you to say what a pain it was to get these certificates remade. Why cant the Catholic church just accept my old ones? Some organizations are really picky when it comes to paperwork. I won't even get into the topic of Legal paperwork. Can you imagine how much copy work its gonna take to get this Vioxx ligigation started? Auugh! Oh the humanity! Anyhoot, I will be so relieved that I will receive the certificates on October 4th. Now I have to go take some classes in January 2005 to complete my confirmation obligations. Getting married is a bitch, but I love my Dot so much and I will go thru anything to appease her. xoxoxo

Debate Link

Just in case you missed some of the debate on the telly last night, I will be posting the link here.
